Very interesting post, Adam!

The transportation infrastructure is one of the things my Dad (who is from London, but emigrated to Canada in the late 60s) warned me about before my recent move to the UK. My experiences of moving around London over the years have usually been positive, but that was as a tourist. Now that I'm living here, I am definitely noticing the challenges associated with the vast network of trains, tube lines and buses.

I also went to WTM and was amazed at the crowds packed into the DLR. Thankfully, extra trains were added to accommodate...but even still, it was a bit ridiculous. Is this what it's always like when there is a large exhibition in town?

I also experienced the challenges faced by so many commuters in recent weeks on the London Underground, when over this past weekend I discovered that the Victoria line was closed both Saturday and Sunday. I only needed to go two stops (Oxford Circus to Victoria), but it was quite the adventure travelling instead on Bakerloo, and then Circle line...alongside the many others who had been displaced. I too reflected on what it was going to be like in the Summer of 2012.

Hopefully Transport for London can get their act together in time!

I couldn't agree more. Ok so being in this industry, we are spoiled with luxury and we are lucky to get a taste of the best hotels, restaurants and bars and maybe that does make us a more fussy customer but bad manners, terrible service and deceitful marketing messages are inexcusable! I am also hunting for a wedding venue at the moment on the South Coast and have been shocked by prehistoric marketing materials and as you mentioned lack of enthusiasm for the business. One of my favourites was a response to my query regarding an early kurfew "because we are all tired by then and want to go home". So Adam you are not on your own and neither is Scotland, the relics exist not only in the Grand Ballroom!
